My Poor Patient

Today I went to my private office in Jamal Hospital. I was asked to see a patient by the director of the hospital. She was a middle aged obese lady with complains of low back pain. After a through evaluation, I found she had a mechanical back pain, so advised some pain killers and exercise. At the end she tokes out some money to pay my fee, but I instructed to paty to hospital cashier. While seeing another patient, I got the cashier with the patient in my office. Cashier frustrated that the patient is not paying her fee and patient ashamed of not having money. I got both frustration and shame. Frustrated on cashier why bringing a poor patient back just for money, and ashamed why I sent a poor patient to cashier. I asked to cashier to accept any amount she is able to pay. I was feeling a kind of guilt for accepting fee. Am I supposed to accept money from patient?

Second Day of Private Clinic!

It is almost 3rd day. I didn’t come yesterday, because I was on call in the hospital.
On the first day I had two patients. They called me on phone and I asked them to come to my private office. It is frustrating to sit and see no one. I can see some patients who don’t know me seeing my board and than going back. I think I will wait for a month or two to see if my office would pick up. The problem is with my boss in hospital. It is a private hospital and he is very conservative with his doctors working outside privately. He thinks we may direct patients from hospital outside. He is on a trip, lets what he says when comes back.

First Day in Private office

This is the first day of my private office in Kabul. I bought the necessary items with help of Dr Sharif; my brother. It cost more than 200 USD. I have given appointments to two patients to see them. My room does not have carpet, and there is no curtain too, which I am planning to buy. Some minutes ago the sign board writer came, and will make the sign board tomorrow. I have sent Fahim Jan my younger brother to buy a heater and a waste Ben. Dr Fatah has said that he will come to see my office.
